"For me,  writing has captured the freedom of expression and love for our beautiful planet.  I would like to urge all to do their part in saving our Mother Earth for  future generations to come.

We have but one chance to be the difference!

Earth Day Poetry

Earth Day is celebrated world wide,
Our thanks should go to Senator Gaylord Nelson
He started the idea of Earth Day back in 1962,
It took him seven long years!

In 1969, the first Earth Day was celebrated,
So now, this year marks a 40 year anniversary.
Senator Gaylord Nelson was a very tenacious man.
He never gave up his fight to save our Mother Earth.

We need to realize his dream,
and begin to make this planet gleam,
No more plastic bags we should choose,
only paper products should we use.

Mother Earth is crumbling fast
we humans have not learned from our past,
Recycling has begun to take ahold,
but not quick enough I am told.

Walking to your destination
can help with conservation,
Ride your bike not your car
And gasoline will go very far.

Turn off your power cords,
use your child's skate boards,
Car Pool to your job each day,
and save some of your precious pay.

Rent a movie, make a meal
save some money, make a deal
turn the heat down a few degrees,
send an email, save some trees.

Take a two minute shower
take away the Utility's power,
or control they have on you,
give them back what is due.

Read a book by candlelight,
go to bed earlier each night.
wake up early and take a walk
invite a friend so you can talk.

Remember how it used to be,
when the apples grew in the tree
and that tree was your safe place
that you would climb to hide your face.

Simpler days were much more green
and the Earth was very clean
Now she cries for us to see,
A screeching healing plea!

Celebrate this Earth Day well,
live to be one that shall tell,
All to be on this Earthly mission
and to live with The Earth's Permission!

Mother Earth's Restoration

by Amber "V" Moonstone

Rituals signal rebirth
timely chanting on Mother Earth
Calling Quarters loudly singing
Spirit's energy swiftly bringing

Memories of a simple time
soothing fear in our mind,
knowing that our life is changing
and Mother Earth needs re-arranging.

We have come so very far,
technology has exploded like each star,
but the life of Mother Earth,
seems to be needing some re-birth.

We must start to conserve,
before we can deserve,
anymore of Mother Earth's pieces,
before her life deceases.

Rituals signal rebirth,
timely chanting on our Mother Earth
Calling to heal and proclamation,
of Mother Earth's restoration!

Earth Day is approaching.  It is a day to celebrate our planet and to do our part to conserve resources and save endangered species.  If each human being vowed to take part in this mission, in just a few short years
we would see a huge change:

"The Earth Day Poem"

by Amber "V" Moonstone 4/10/08

Our forests are dying,
Our lakes are drying,
Mother Earth is crying,
and we must start trying!

Trying to save our Earth
giving back what it's worth,
toward a new day of
REBIRTH!!!

Join the millions of people world wide,
to begin to live with pride,
while waste begins to subside,
and conservation is taken in stride.

Use paper, not plastic bags,
Recycle clothing to use as rags,
Re-do, repair, re-dream,
Don't buy new, buy green!

Walk or share a ride,
Conserve water town wide,
read a book, or play a game,
Live in peace without shame.

We must begin today,
there is no time to delay,
Mother Earth is needing you to pray,

On This 2008, Earth Day!

authors notes:  I have been asked to speak to elementary students at Jeffrey Elementary School in Madison, CT on Earth Day.  This poem is dedicated to all the students and their efforts to make our planet a place to live for generations to come!

Peace, love, and light,
